The LPS-06 separate slip ring is a standard, off-the-shelf unit that uses gold contacts at the rotary interface. Color-coded lead wires are used on both the stator and rotor for simplifying electrical connections.

Gold-on-gold is often found in lower current signal circuits, thanks to its compact size. While silver and silver graphite slip rings are used in higher-current power circuits, as they are at one more economical and boast a longer service life.
